Lifestars and CHC prepare for take-off at Aberdeen Runway Run

Lifestars is delighted to have been chosen as CHC Helicopter’s charity partner for the annual Aberdeen Runway Run, a one-of-a-kind experience that gives participants the chance to run the runway at Aberdeen Airport.

Organised by Aberdeen Airport alongside CHC and now in its seventh year, the 2026 run will be held on Saturday 20th June, with 400 participants expected to run two lengths of the runway, a total distance of 4km. Participants can run either individually or as part of a team of six, where all runners’ times are combined to determine the fastest overall group.

Last year’s event raised over £65,000, contributing to an impressive total of £250,000 that has been generated since the event began. This year’s run will raise funds for Lifestars as CHC’s chosen charity as well as for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH), Aberdeen Airport’s partner charity. Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £100 and can also choose to donate 30% of their fundraising total to a charity of their own choice.

Alongside the Runway Run, CHC is partnering with Lifestars throughout 2026 and has already raised an incredible £1250 in the first few months of the year. These valuable funds will go towards several projects across the city.

The helicopter firm will also be involved in two career fairs that are being hosted by Lifestars at both Kaimhill and Seaton Primary Schools next month, events that are designed to inspire young people as they explore future career pathways.

Commenting on the partnership, Lifestars founder Neve McPherson said:

“We are thrilled that CHC have partnered with Lifestars for the Runway Run. The event has captured the imagination of the Aberdeen public with runners of all ages and abilities competing, so it’s fantastic to be associated with such a unique event. The money raised for Lifestars will be invaluable in helping us support children across Aberdeen develop essential life skills, building confidence and preparing them for their future lives.”

Glen Schreuder, Accounts Payable Supervisor at CHC and a board member of Lifestars added:

“I’m delighted that CHC has picked Lifestars as its chosen charity for this year’s event. Being involved with both CHC and Lifestars, I have seen first-hand the difference the money raised can make in supporting the charity’s work around the city. Having participated in the event last year, I know how positive the atmosphere is and I’m sure this year’s Runway Run will be another great success.”

Tickets for this year’s event are on sale now. With demand expected to be high, organisers are encouraging participants to secure their space early to avoid disappointment.

Thank you to everyone at CHC for choosing to partner with Lifestars for the Runway Run and for their invaluable support throughout the year.
